Why is it important that my New Zealand businesses website is hosted on a real New Zealand server network, located in a New Zealand based datacentre?
Having your New Zealand businesses website & email hosted on an overseas based webserver, could be a disadvantage to your company’s website. This is especially the case, if you intend that most of your website visitors will be based in New Zealand. This is because currently some New Zealand ISP's can restrict bandwidth on international website traffic, especially during peak times, causing some international hosted website's to load slower during peak times. It also can cost ISPs more money to transmit and receive international website traffic, than it costs to transfer receive local website traffic. Therefore some ISPs will traffic shape some types of traffic.
If your website is hosted on any of our hosting plans, that specify that they are hosted on New Zealand based server networks, such as our Business Class hosting plan, you won't have the problem of your website loading slowly due to your ISP restricting international bandwidth. This is because your website will be treated as local New Zealand website traffic.
With New Zealand based servers, server response times can also be quicker when viewing the website in New Zealand, as the data has less distance to travel between the server and the website visitor. This can result in your website loading faster, and your email downloading faster off the server. This however, does depend on your ISP.
Some New Zealand web hosting companies, offering web hosting to the New Zealand market, will solely offer offshore based web hosting plans, to host their client’s websites on. They do this, as it often can be cheaper to host websites offshore, than it can cost to host the same website on a New Zealand based network.
We offer both New Zealand and USA based website hosting plans through our web hosting websites. Where the website is hosted, depends on which of our hosting plans you are on.
For those web hosting plans that are hosted in the USA, we host them on premium hosting networks in the USA. There is definitely a place for hosting websites in the USA, especially for high traffic websites, and also website's that use a lot of diskspace. Also if you have a global target audience for your website, having your website hosted in the USA, can be an advantage for those people viewing your website outside New Zealand. If you need hosting for a second, third or even more websites, we can setup additional separate add-on web hosting spaces for them, for just $26.67 + GST per month per additional website. This may be useful if you want to host a separate isolated website under it's own domain name, or under a subdomain of your existing website.
Additional add-on websites each come with their own unmetered diskspace and traffic, and also includes their own separate website statistics. You will also be able to manage all your websites and domain names, all inside the single control panel. You will also be able to choose either Linux or Windows hosting platforms for your additional add-on websites, and you will be able to mix and match hosting platforms. For example if you have two websites, you can host both a Linux website and a Windows website all within the same control panel. Windows add-on websites, will also come with an additional 20MB MSSQL database (worth $17.78+GST per month) for no additional fee! |

What constitutes excessive bandwidth usage is decided by our upstream providers. If your bandwidth requirements are considered too large for a shared server environment, we may contact you to arrange alternative hosting options. Please be sure to email us if you expect your website to have high traffic requirements, or if you are planning on switching a high bandwidth website to this hosting plan.

EOL* - EOL is an acronym for 'End Of Life'. Server features that have (EOL) next to them, are those that have reached the end of their usable life, and the feature potentially could be removed from the server at any time, and without notice. Products reach the 'End Of Life' stage because the software vendor/developer has either replaced the software with a new version or an entirely new product, or they have phased it out. This means that they no longer provide any support for the software/feature, or provide any security fixes for it. Hence any features that we list that has (EOL) next to it, we don't provide any support for, and the feature is provided 'as is'. We also reserve the right to remove any EOL software/feature from the server without notice, especially if it becomes a security threat, as old software can become susceptible to hackers. Unlike many hosting providers who remove EOL features immediately, we will always try to keep an EOL product available for as long as is practicably possible.
Domain Registration Charges are an additional fee, and are not included in the hosting plan price.
